The Farm Bureau Insurance Awards were held this week to honor the top athletes and coaches from the high school football season in Arkansas, and two area individuals went home with hardware.
Salem’s Skyler Payne was named the Class 3A Defensive Player of the Year, and his head coach, Josh Watson, was selected the classification’s Coach of the Year. The awards came just a few nights after the Greyhounds defeated Bismarck to win their first state championship in program history.

Mountain Home was represented during the evening as Jacob Chenoweth was a finalist for the Class 6A Offensive Player of the Year, and Steve Ary was a finalist for the Classes 7A/6A Coach of the Year. The awards went to Grant Karnes and Coach Chris Young, both of Greenwood.
