Junior Bombers Face West Memphis Wonder, Girls Teams Secure Wins

The Mountain Home Junior Bombers faced West Memphis Wonder on Thursday in a full slate of basketball action. While the boys’ teams struggled, the girls’ teams delivered victories.In the 8th-grade boys’ game, Mountain Home trailed 12-9 at halftime before West Memphis Wonder pulled away in the second half, ultimately defeating the Bombers 52-31. Finley Maxey and Ryder Oels led Mountain Home with 4 points each as the team fell to a 2-9 record.

The 9th-grade boys put up a stronger effort in a competitive matchup. Down 12-9 after the first quarter and 28-23 at halftime, Mountain Home closed the gap to 39-37 by the end of the third. However, West Memphis Wonder held firm in the final quarter, taking the game 49-42. Johnny Krueger and Tanner Alkire led the Bombers with 12 points each.

The girls’ teams had much better outings. The 8th-grade Bombers secured a low-scoring 13-5 victory, while the 9th-grade girls dominated West Memphis Wonder with a commanding 36-10 win.
