The Mountain Home NJROTC recently had the experience of a lifetime in early December as they traveled to Newport News, Va., for the christening of the USS Arkansas attack naval submarine.

The NJROTC served as the Color Guard for the christening of the new Virginia-class attack Naval submarine, and they were joined by Principal Mary Beth Russell, Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allyson Dewey and Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams.

The students had the honor of performing the presentation of colors at the beginning of the christening. Color Guard Commander of the event, Kristen Eddings, told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News they arrived multiple hours before to rehearse to ensure a proper presentation.
