A teenager from Logan County will serve 30 years in prison for the 2022 murder of his mother, according to court records.
William Frost, now 18, pleaded guilty on December 20 to second-degree murder in Logan County Circuit Court in Booneville.
The crime occurred on August 7, 2022, when Frost, then 16 years old, took his mother’s .357 caliber handgun into his bedroom and waited before shooting and killing her, court documents reveal.
Initially charged with first-degree murder, Frost had pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, after more than two years of delays and continuances, he ultimately entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder during a hearing.
Frost had been set to stand trial for first-degree murder in April 2025, following multiple delays.
He was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with credit for 867 days already served.
