With Arkansas leading the nation in food insecurity, a Lonoke County church has been doing their part in fighting back by serving weekly meals with their food ministry.

In 2024, the Grace Community Church served a total of 29,058 free meals to the community, enough to feed nearly the entire population of cities like Jacksonville and Cabot.

With the help of Jacksonville non-profit Fishnet Missions, each Tuesday the food ministry takes rescued food they received and converts it into meals centered around items like pork chops, enchilada casserole and biscuits and gravy.

The post added, “Whether it’s serving hot meals, passing out donated groceries, or sending our youth group kids home with snack bags, we’re working hard to combat food insecurity in our community.”

On average the church would give out over 700 meals a week, but they set a personal record the week before Thanksgiving. 801 meals of chicken and dressing, corn, yams, bread and dessert were served to their community.

The Grace Community Church will resume serving meals to the community on Tuesday, January 7th.
