High school basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule, and it includes Mountain Home hosting their big holiday tournament. The Atlas Asphalt Basketball Tournament will begin its three-day run on two of Mountain Home’s campuses.
Mountain Home’s boys will meet Dumas in the opening round. The Bombers are currently 8-5 on the season after beating Fair Grove, Mo., on Saturday in the North Arkansas College Boys Basketball Border War Shootout. The Bobcats have a record of 8-2 after hosting the Dumas Classic and beating Warren over the weekend. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:40.
In the other boys’ game at Bomber Gymnasium, Farmington and Rector tip off at 3. On the junior high campus, Flippin faces Paragould at 3, and Cotter takes on Greene County Tech at 5:40.
The Mountain Home girls will play the final game of the night at the Hangar as they will be paired with Rector. The Lady Bombers are 11-2 after beating up on Heritage Friday in their home opener. Gametime is set for 7.
The other girls’ game at Bomber Gymnasium will feature Greers Ferry West Side and Dumas at 4:20. In the junior high gym, Flippin meets Cabot at 4:20, and Paragould faces North Little Rock at 7.

Three area teams will be in Berryville for the opening day of the CS Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament. Viola’s girls take on Mountain View at 10, and the Mountain View boys play the host Bobcats at 11:20.
The second-annual Gainesville Lady Bulldog Holiday Tournament will begin Thursday. Bakersfield will be matched up with the host school at 2.
Three area boys’ teams will play their openers in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. Mammoth Spring meets Summersville at noon, Gainesville faces Eminence at 1:30, and Dora takes on Mountain View-Liberty at 3.
A few area schools will take part in the 35th-annual Lendel Thomas Classic at Harrison. On the girls’ side, Branson gets underway against Highland at 11, Bergman plays Mena at 4:30, and the host Lady Goblins will go up against Greenland at 7:10. On the boys’ bracket, Valley Springs meets Mena at 12:20, Bergman faces Sheridan at 5:50, and Salem takes on Harrison at 8:20.
Izard County’s boys will be in Missouri for the Poplar Bluff Showdown. The Cougars play McCracken County at 4.
Three area girls’ teams will be in Pea Ridge for the start of the Lady Blackhawk Holiday Invitational. Valley Springs will be paired with Alma at 4, Mammoth Spring meets Arkadelphia at 5:30, and Melbourne faces Greenbrier at 8:30.
The Melbourne boys will go to Highland for their first game in the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational. The Bearkatz will take on Marianna at 12:30.
