The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has been recognized as an accredited law enforcement agency, marking a milestone for the department and the state.

Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander recently announced the department earned Tier II Basic Accreditation status following a rigorous review conducted by the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP). This recognition makes Marion County one of only 14 agencies statewide to achieve this distinction.

The accreditation comes through Arkansas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP), a voluntary program established by the AACP to promote best practices in areas like use of force, citizen rights, and evidence management. Tier II accreditation ensures compliance with critical state and federal standards, showcasing the department’s commitment to professional law enforcement operations.

Sheriff Alexander praised the program for helping agencies implement the policies needed to meet these essential benchmarks.
