The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is encouraging residents to repurpose their natural Christmas trees as fish habitats in Beaver Lake, Bull Shoals Lake, and Norfork Lake.
Trees can be dropped off at any public launch ramp on Bull Shoals Lake or Norfork Lake.
Donors are asked to leave trees to the side of ramps, ensuring ramps and parking areas remain accessible. Only real trees free of ornaments and tinsel are accepted to protect aquatic life.
These trees will provide cover for fish and attractors for anglers. Anyone interested in creating fish shelters can pick up the trees. However, they must be anchored with natural rocks and placed in areas safe for boating.
