Sales tax numbers for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continue to increase for the month of December.
According to the Mountain Home Director of Finance and Treasury, Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $600,887 in city sales tax revenue for November which is an increase of 4.6562% for the month. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $180,564 or 2.6091%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $514,514. This time last year, Baxter County received $494,155 which is an increase of $20,359 or 4.1%.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in November, which reflect area spending from the month of October.
Mountain Home received $278,329 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $267,316 which is a increase of 4.12%. The year-to-date increase equals $103,931 or 3.2298%.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $47,115;
– Cotter, which received $19,228;
– Lakeview, which received $16,819;
– Salesville, which received $10,265;
– Norfork, which received $10,091;
– Briarcliff, which received $5,121; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,909.
Baxter County received $225,848 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.
Mountain Home received $225,332 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $215,307 which is a monthly increase of 4.6562%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $67,724 or 2.6096%.
Mountain Home has collected nearly $300,443 for November from the park improvement sales tax, which is $110,159 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,283 for 2024.
Park operation sales tax for July equals $150,221.
