A teen suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Ozark County. The 16-year-old male juvenile from Ava was transported by a private vehicle to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the juvenile traveling on County Road 382, and an 18-year-old adult male from Dora was driving in the opposite direction. They were nearly three miles north of Dora when the adult’s pickup truck met the juvenile’s vehicle in a curve, and the two vehicles collided nearly head-on. The juvenile was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
Neither male was identified in the crash report, but another report from the highway patrol indicates 18-year-old Gage McCowan of Dora was later booked into the Ozark County Jail on a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident with physical injury and a charge of no valid license.
Both vehicles were totaled in the 2:45 p.m. accident.
