A Boone County man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting another man and stealing his money and phone. Twenty-six-year-old Branden Renly faces a felony charge of aggravated robbery.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Harrison Police Department officers were dispatched to a Casey’s location on Main Street on Nov. 8 following a request for assistance from the Arkansas State Police.
The victim told officers he was in his vehicle talking on the phone when Renly allegedly opened the passenger-side door, entered, and began hitting him in the face. After the victim exited the vehicle, Renly reportedly followed, wrestled him to the ground, and kicked him in the neck, back, and ribs.
The victim said he begged Renly to stop, fearing for his life. He added that Renly’s girlfriend was present and yelled at him to stop the assault.
Renly allegedly took $175 from the victim’s wallet, saying, “Thanks for the money,” and took the victim’s $100 Motorola phone, saying, “Thanks for the phone.” He then reportedly searched for the victim’s car keys, allowing the victim to escape to Casey’s for help.
The victim was transported to the ICU due to injuries sustained in the altercation.
Renly was arrested and booked into the Boone County Detention Center on a felony aggravated robbery charge.
