Charges have been filed against a Boone County man after he was caught fleeing and resisting arrest. Forty-five-year-old Larry Thompson is facing charges of fleeing and refusal to submit to arrest.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Harrison Police Department officers were dispatched Dec. 9 to a residence for a felony warrant service on Thompson. Upon arrival, officers observed two men smoking outside. While one officer spoke to the men, two others approached the front door.
When officers opened the door, they encountered a man standing in the middle of the room with one hand behind his back. Officers instructed the man to show his hands and step outside. Once outside, officers identified him as Thompson and asked him to place his hands behind his back.
As officers attempted to handcuff Thompson, he ran toward an open field in front of the residence. Officers pursued him to a fence, where one officer deployed a Taser. The probes had no effect. The chase continued south through the North Arkansas College North Campus field toward Pace Industries. Officers apprehended Thompson in a campus parking lot and placed him in custody.
Thompson sustained puncture wounds on his shoulder blades, identified as Taser probe marks, and an injury to his left knee. He was treated and released at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center.
During the pursuit, one officer fell and injured his right shoulder, requiring medical evaluation and time off work for further treatment. Another officer sustained a knee injury.
Thompson was booked into the Boone County Jail with bond set at $5,000.
