The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has announced its All-Arkansas Preps football team, and the Twin Lakes Area is being represented by three athletes and a coach.
Salem junior defensive lineman Keagan Sanderson was named to the first team. According to the Little Rock newspaper, Sanderson led the state with 17 sacks. Salem is also being represented by Josh Watson, who was named the All-Arkansas Preps coach of the year.
Mountain Home senior running back Jacob Chenoweth was selected for the second team. Chenoweth set a pair of school records for a season after leading the Bombers’ ground attack with 1,856 yards and 27 touchdowns.
The second team also includes Melbourne senior kicker Fernando Ventura. He ended up 46 out of 47 on point-after-touchdown attempts, and he successfully kicked nine field goals with his longest at 45 yars. Ventura also performed well for the Bearkatz on defense as he recorded 92 tackles from the safety position.
More All-Arkansas Preps teams will be announced as the school year continues. The All-Arkansas Preps Awards Banquet is scheduled for June 14 at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.
