In December, the Mountain Home School Board approved the purchase of a weapons detection system for the junior high and high school campuses.

The system, provided by local security company Entry Shield, is designed to be quick and efficient, avoiding long lines that could delay students from getting to class on time. It is also calibrated to avoid flagging common items such as laptops, keys, watches, belt buckles, water bottles, and cellphones.

Phillip Gomez, the owner of Entry Shield, says the system will provide the schools with all day coverage they would not otherwise be able to have.
