As wintry conditions begin to enter the Twin Lakes area, heavier snowfall is anticipated to begin Thursday night and continue through Friday morning. According to National Weather Service Meteorologist Chuck Rickard, snow will start light but intensify overnight, with the heaviest snow expected in a 12-to-18 hour window from 9PM tonight and 10AM Friday.

“We’re now seeing snow entering the immediate listening area. It’ll be fairly light at first, but it’ll start picking up here as the night goes on. We’re still looking at a good amount of snow falling and then it looks like it’ll begin to taper off early Friday afternoon,” Rickard said.

The storm is expected to bring between 5 to 8 inches of snow to the area, with the potential for higher totals in elevated regions.

Rickard urged caution when it comes to traveling the roadways, saying, “The main thing is going to be with temperatures below freezing currently, and overnight temperatures staying below freezing. So road conditions are going to deteriorate fairly quickly. So I would say at this point, if anybody’s out and about or needs to get out, the sooner the better and basically hunker down for tonight and a good bit of tomorrow until any melting can occur as we go through the weekend.”

Looking further through the weekend into next week, we see sunny skies with highs in the upper 30’s and lower 40’s.
