On Friday morning, firefighters from the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District were kept busy due to snowy road conditions. Fire Chief Rich Stirts reported that his team responded to a water rescue after a Jeep ran off the road and into a creek along S. Farm Road 193 in Rogersville. The firefighters were able to safely rescue the two occupants and kept them warm until EMS arrived.

When they reached the scene, the vehicle was visible in the water, with one person on top of the car and another in the water. The snow was falling heavily, and the road conditions were poor, making it challenging to reach the location. Chief Stirts speculated that the vehicle had been drawn off the road due to the lack of visible edges.

Firefighter Malachi Miller, one of the first responders, explained that the occupants had been going too fast down a hill and lost control while rounding a curve, which led to the Jeep sliding into the creek.

In addition to the water rescue, Chief Stirts mentioned that his team also responded to a semi truck that had overturned on U.S. 60, safely removing the people inside. He reminded the public not to call 911 when they see yellow caution tape around a wreck. The tape indicates that first responders have already been on the scene and are waiting for safer conditions to clear the area.
