A report of an incident at a Baxter County residence led to the suspect being tased after fleeing from a deputy. Twenty-one-year-old Ashton Fust has been in the Baxter County Detention Center since last weekend with bond set at $2,300.

According to the incident report, Baxter County 911 dispatch advised of a disorderly male Jan. 18 on Arkansas Highway 5 South. A deputy arrived and observed a male and female standing in front of the door. The female, identified as the caller, advised Fust had destroyed two television sets and a couple of other technological items in her residence. Fust allegedly has a history of drug use, and she claimed she asked him if he was on anything. Fust reportedly became angry and threatened to smash her head on the counter. After breaking the objects, Fust allegedly stole the female’s phone and ran into the woods behind the residence.

The male witness confirmed the female’s allegations of Fust destroying the items and threatening the female. He also stated he had played basketball with Fust earlier, and Fust had reportedly consumed three beers.

The deputy later went with one of his colleagues to find Fust. Dispatch had pinged the female’s phone but were unable to locate him. A third deputy later advised he received a call about Fust walking in the 5500 block of Highway 5 South. The second deputy was the first one in the area as he made contact with Fust, who then fled into the woods near the intersection of Highway 5 and County Road 69. The deputy deployed his taser, and Fust was placed under arrest.

The reporting deputy arrived on the scene and performed a search of Fust, leading to the discovery of the phone. Fust reportedly admitted the phone belonged to the female.

A Baxter Health EMT also arrived and stated he did not feel comfortable removing one of the taser prongs due to its location. Fust was transported to the hospital to get the prong removed before being booked in the detention center.

Fust is facing charges of third-degree assault on a family or household member, second-degree criminal mischief, theft of property, resisting arrest and fleeing on foot.
