A Baxter County Detention Center inmate is accused of fighting with two jailers who later sought treatment at Baxter Health for their injuries. Sixty-one-year-old Darin Greer of Mountain Home is facing felony counts of second-degree battery on a police officer and impairing the operations of a vital public facility.

According to the incident report, a jailer was notified on the morning of Jan. 18 of a medical issue in one of the pods. She was advised two other jailers were fighting an inmate. When she arrived, she assisted the jailers in getting both of Greer’s arms behind his back.

Greer was handcuffed and escorted to another cell. After his handcuffs were removed and he was locked in the cell, Greer reportedly started yelling and threatening a lawsuit. He also claimed his face was swollen. The reporting jailer says Greer had no apparent marks or abrasions on his face, but there were marks on his wrist from the handcuffs.

One of the jailers that fought Greer reportedly had a scratch on his neck appearing to be approximately 2 inches long. The reporting jailer advised him to go to the emergency room. The other jailer that fought with Greer later advised his knee was starting to hurt, and he was also advised to go to the hospital.

Video surveillance reportedly showed Greer approaching one of the jailers in an aggressive manner twice, and the second time is when the fight ensued. The other jailer used his taser on Greer, but it had little effect. Greer was tackled on a nearby bunk and placed into handcuffs.

Greer has been incarcerated since Oct. 3 on a revocation bench warrant. His bond is set at $15,000.
