
Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home saw slight increases in sales tax collected for the month of January.
According to the Mountain Home Director of Finance and Treasury, Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $577,821 in city sales tax revenue for January which is an increase of 0.0679% for the month. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $392.21 or 0.0679%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $495,676. This time last year, Baxter County received $492,409 which is an increase of $3,266 or 0.7%.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in January, which reflect area spending from the month of November.
Mountain Home received $268,139 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $266,372 which is a increase of 0.6634%. The year-to-date increase equals $1,267 or 0.6634%.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $45,390;
– Cotter, which received $18,524;
– Lakeview, which received $16,203;
– Salesville, which received $9,889;
– Norfork, which received $9,722;
– Briarcliff, which received $4,934; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,839.
Baxter County received $217,579 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.
Mountain Home received $216,683 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $216,536 which is a monthly increase of 0.0679%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $147.07 or 0.0679%.
Mountain Home has collected $288,910 for January from the park improvement sales tax, which is $70,736 more than needed for Bond Payment of $218,173 for 2025.
Park operation sales tax for January equals $144,455.
