Warrants for the arrest of a woman from Flippin have been issued in two states following an incident in Ozark County.
Authorities are searching for 35-year-old Shanna Dawn Cunningham who was released following her arrest in Ozark County in December after she dropped her kids off at a stranger’s house and left them while high on drugs. She then did not show up for her court date. A failure to comply with conditions of her probation warrant has been issued in Marion County from a case in 2022 when she broke into her mother’s house, attacked her, threw her son into a wall and assaulted a police officer.
According to court documents and a Facebook post from the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a female parked in a driveway, acting erratic. Deputies identified the female as Cunningham and determined she was under the influence of narcotics after finding methamphetamine in her vehicle.
While she was being booked into the Ozark County Jail, dispatchers received a call from another location saying a female had dropped off two young children and had not returned.
Deputies learned a woman named “Shanna” had showed up at the house around 5:30 that morning and asked the occupants if they “were rich” and “where the nearest gas station was?” The woman told deputies Shanna kept talking to people who weren’t there and then left without the children, saying she was going to the gas station. She told the deputies she had never seen nor met Shanna before.
In the Ozark County incident, Cunningham is facing two counts of first degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of possession of a controlled substance, all felonies. She was released on an OR bond, meaning she did not have to post bond. Her court date was set for Jan. 7 but she did not show, so a warrant for her arrest has been issued again.
Cunningham was originally arrested in October of 2022 in Flippin when she broke into her mother’s residence where her children were staying.
According to court records in that case, Cunningham broke into the residence. She and her mother fought and at one point, she threw her two-year-old son against the wall. Her mother alleges Cunningham choked her and threatened to kill her.
When a Flippin officer arrived, he had to deploy his TASER to get Cunningham to comply with his commands before he could take her into custody. After getting her in handcuffs, Cunningham kicked the officer.
Cunningham faced 10 charges from the incident, including four felonies. She agreed to a negotiated plea deal in the case where she pled guilty and was given 60 months of probation.
Following her arrest in Ozark County, she has violated her probation and a warrant has been issued in Marion County for her arrest.
