
Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule and includes four of Mountain Home’s junior high teams returning to the home floor as they welcome Valley View in from Jonesboro. The eighth grade girls’ game tips off at 4 followed by the eighth grade boys and both freshman contests.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Melbourne hosts Bergman, Marshall entertains Ozark Mountain, Harrison is home against Farmington for three boys’ games, and Harrison will send three girls’ teams to Farmington.
Three area high school teams will continue action in the Big Springs Conference Tournament at Summersville. The girls’ game between Bakersfield and Dora will tip off at 4, and Bakersfield’s boys meet Winona in the semifinals at 7:45.
The Gainesville boys will compete on the consolation bracket of the Sparta Trojans Tournament. The Bulldogs face Mansfield at 5:30.
Gainesville’s girls will play their opener in the Seymour Bank Winter Classic. The Lady Bulldogs take on Mountain View-Liberty at 7.
In other high school basketball, Norfork travels to Viola, Calico Rock hosts Concord, Salem makes the trip to Mountain View, Timbo heads to South Side-Bee Branch, and Lead Hill travels to Jasper.
