Two people arrested on drug charges at a residence along High Avenue in late December last year appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court on January 27.
Forty-five-year-old Theodore Prehm and 43-year-old Lisa Jason were charged with possession of methamphetamine Prehm was also charged with possession of paraphernalia described as commonly used to ingest methamphetamine and Jason with giving a false name to police.
Both Prehm and Jason have entered not guilty pleas.
The third person involved in the incident at the High Avenue residence, 45-year-old Christopher Beatty, was taken into custody on an active warrant issued by the City of Mountain Home, charging him with failure to pay, a misdemeanor.
When the first officer arrived on scene, he talked to Prehm and asked if Beatty was at home. Prehm said that Beatty should be on a living room couch. Beatty was found and taken into custody without incident.
Police came to the house in response to the report of a possible trespasser at the High Avenue residence on December 31 and wound up arresting all three people at the house.
The officer reported Prehm had come from a “carport shed.” When another officer arrived, he was asked to check out the area.
The officer found a female sleeping on a couch. After the officer woke her up, she identified herself with what turned out to be a false name.
When the name was checked, the officers got no response on the name and date of birth which the woman had initially provided.
An Arkansas State Trooper came to the residence with his fingerprint scanner and the female was eventually identified as Lisa Jason.
While officers talked with Jason, a small plastic bag was observed on a shelf above the woman.
Neither Jason nor Prehm would admit to ownership of the substance, which weighed almost 4 grams.
The substance in the bag was tested at the Mountain Home Police Department and showed positive for methamphetamine.
A glass smoking pipe was found in Prehm’s front right pocket. Officers reported the pipe appeared to be one used for the ingestion of methamphetamine.
