UPDATE: Silver Alert for Newton County man inactivated

Update: 5:53 p.m. – The Silver Alert for 81-year-old  Howard D. Roberts of Pelsor has been inactivated.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office issued a Silver Alert on Wednesday afternoon for an 81-year-old man.

According to a press release, Howard D. Roberts was last known to be at a residence on NC 7130 in Pelsor, near the community of Cowell. His direction of travel is unknown.

Roberts, who has dementia, reportedly became aggressive Wednesday. Authorities believe he may be traveling in a white 2009 Chevy Silverado with Arkansas license plate 932 UZV.

He is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He has short gray hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. He was last seen wearing jeans, a blue shirt and a U.S. Navy hat.
