The Mountain Home Junior High (MHJH) Quiz Bowl team had an impressive season, recently securing its third top-five finish in a tournament.
In its latest competition, the MHJH Quiz Bowl team, coached by high school math teacher James Kerr, placed fourth at the state tournament in Greenwood. The team started strong, going 3-0 in morning pool play, which earned it the No. 3 seed for the afternoon and guaranteed a top-four finish in its bracket.
The afternoon, however, did not go as planned. The team fell to Greenwood, which went on to win the bracket, and then lost to Little Rock Catholic. MHJH finished fourth overall in the state tournament, concluding its quiz bowl season.
Additionally, Wave Simmons was selected to the all-tournament team and qualified to play in the all-star game, which will take place after the senior high state finals.
The result marks the teams third top-five finish, alongside a third-place showing in the NAESC tournament and a first-place victory at regionals.
