Arkansas families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years can apply for recognition through the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Century Farm Program.

Applications are open through June 30. To qualify, a farm must have remained in the same family for at least 100 years by Dec. 31. Ownership may pass through generations, including children, grandchildren, siblings, and nieces or nephews by birth, marriage, or adoption. The farm must also include at least 10 acres of the original land and contribute financially to the overall farm income.

Established in 2012, the Arkansas Century Farm Program honors the historical significance of farm families and their contributions to the state’s agricultural industry. Since its inception, 645 farms have been inducted.

There is no cost to apply. Qualifying farms receive a personalized certificate and a metal sign displaying the farm’s name and year established.
