Arkansas introduces new mobile ID allowing residents to store license or ID in app

The State of Arkansas Monday announced driver’s licenses and state IDs can now be downloaded on a mobile device as a digital license or ID. Arkansans can download the Arkansas Mobile ID app in the Apple App store or Google Play by searching for “AR Mobile ID”.

Scott Hardin is a spokesman for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. He says the app is secure and can be used in different ways.

Hardin says The state anticipates the list of organizations and businesses that accept Mobile ID will increase over time, but for now, it would be advisable to have your license with you even if you have enrolled your license in the new app.

A free resource, the Mobile ID Verify app, is available to any business or law enforcement organization and can be used to confirm an individual with an Arkansas Mobile ID.
