AGFC Commissioner discusses the impact of eliminating grocery tax

Earlier this week, legislation was announced to repeal the state grocery tax and expand liability protections for food banks and their donors and many wonder how this will impact state agencies such as the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC).

AGFC Commissioner Rob Finley, says he supports this decision despite the impact it may have on the Commission.

A 0.125% sales tax increase was approved by voters in 1996 with the money earned being used to help bolster the AGFC. Finley comments on the impact the increase has had since then.

If approved, the Grocery Tax Relief Act would go into effect Jan. 1, 2026.
