ASUMH baseball team sweeps doubleheader over Coahoma to begin weekend series

The ASU-Mountain Home baseball team began its weekend road trip to Clarksdale, Miss., by sweeping a doubleheader over Coahoma on Friday. The TrailBlazers beat the Tigers by a score of 7-4 in both games.

Ckyler Tengler pitched another beauty in the opener for ASU-Mountain Home as he went six innings, recorded 13 strikeouts and gave up two hits and a walk. As a team, the TrailBlazer offense came up with 12 hits and four stolen bases. Spencer Mounce ended up going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Christopher Tillery added three hits, including two doubles, and Chase Plowman blasted a solo home run.

Plowman came up with two more hits, both home runs, in the second game and drove in six runs. Ricardo Requena added a solo shot, and Reece Bariola provided two hits. Nicholas Patterson got the win as he pitched six innings and struck out six batters. The ASU-Mountain Home defense turned two double plays and committed no errors.

The TrailBlazers improve to 10-7 on the season, and they’ll wrap up the series on Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
