The Arkansas Department of Education has opened applications for the Education Freedom Account (EFA) program, which helps students attend schools that best meet their needs.

Now in its third year, the program continues to expand. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders called it a success, saying it has helped thousands of students access schools that fit their needs. Education Secretary Jacob Oliva emphasized that families deserve school choice, regardless of ZIP code, and noted that more than 14,200 students participated in the 2024-25 school year.

Any Arkansas student eligible to enroll in a public school can apply.

The program has grown significantly, increasing from 5,548 students and 97 private schools in 2023-24 to 14,297 students and 128 private schools this year.

Applications are available at ArkansasEFA.com and more information is available at https://dese.ade.arkansas.gov/Offices/office-of-school-choice-and-parent-empowerment/education-freedom-accounts.
