NWS sending survey crews to investigate multiple tornadoes

The National Weather Service (NWS) is shifting its focus Saturday morning from tracking severe weather to now verifying the multiple tornadoes reported in North Central into Eastern Arkansas Friday Evening.

NWS Meteorologist Willie Gilmore tells KTLO News says they believe multiple tornadoes were on the ground and crews will begin surveys today.

A strong storm formed near Leslie and made it’s way towards Melbourne, Franklin, Ash Flat and continued into Missouri causing widespread damage.

Gilmore reports on a storm that moved north of Midway towards Gamaliel and then crossed into Missouri and was confirmed by NWS as a tornado at Bakersfield as it continued towards West Plains.

The National Weather Service warns against any form of burning over the coming days as strong winds will continue. Rainfall amounts from the overnight storms were not enough to relive very dry conditions.
