In preparation for future disasters, the American Red Cross of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas is calling for donations for Red Cross Giving Day on March 26.

So far this year, more Red Cross blood donations have gone uncollected due to weather than in all of 2024.

Executive Director Michael Sullivan says “This year’s disasters have set a whirlwind pace, displacing thousands of people from their homes across the country and disrupting the nation’s blood supply for patients. As we enter spring disaster season, families are relying on us to come together as a community and support them when help can’t wait during future crises. Join us today by making a financial donation or giving blood.”

Upcoming blood donation opportunities in Mountain Home include the Baxter County Library from 9:30 to 2:30 on March 20, St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church on March 25 from 1 to 6, Vantive from 5 to 11 and from 11 to 5 on March 26 and Centennial Bank from 9 to 2 on March 28.

There will also be an opportunity at Harrison City Hall from 10 to 2 March 19 as well as the Hardy Civic Center on March 31 from 1 to 5.

Blood, platelets and plasma donors will receive a $10 Amazon gift card and a free A1C blood test commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes.
