A revised animal control ordinance will be considered by the Mountain Home City Council during its regular meeting Thursday evening. The ordinance was first read last month and had its second reading earlier this month, but it garnered lengthy discussion and the council asked for a change to be made.
During the last meeting, the council discussed the need for city residents to register their pets since so few know about it and do it. Mountain Home Police Patrol Corporal and Animal Control Officer James Tilley says the new ordinance he has worked on for the council to see Thursday night will not have that requirement.

It was mentioned during the meeting last time by Police Chief Eddie Griffin, officers need a way to identify pets to return them to their owner in cases where they are a nuisance. Tilley says that is where the required tag comes in.
