Fifteen businesses in Calico Rock have been awarded $250 grants to fund marketing and promotion. Main Street Calico Rock recently announced the grants will be going to Between the Buns, Lemley’s Country Store, Knowles True Value, Calico Riverview Inn, White River Current, Cooper Antiques, Printing Press Café, General Store, Artisan Gift Shop, Kim Yutsus Licensed Master Massage Therapist, Touch of Class Massage Therapy, Curious Craftsman, Calico Rock Trout Dock, Jenkins Fishing Service and MP Hair.

The program was funded by Main Street Calico Rock and Main Street Arkansas in cooperation with the Calico Rock Community Foundation. The Main Street program uses a Four Point Approach to revive historic downtown communities, focusing on promotion, community design, economic vitality and organizational governance.

According to the announcement, one business plans to purchase its first real sign, another plans to use its sign for advertising, and a third business plans to develop its first ever website with the support of the Main Street Calico Rock team.

Main Street President and Cooper Antiques and Collectibles owner Gayle Cooper says, “Our downtown businesses depend heavily on tourism and after a long winter we wanted to help businesses get ready for the tourist season.”

Calico Rock Community Foundation Chairman Steven Mitchell says, “We were thrilled to partner on this program because we know how important downtown businesses are to the entire community. When Main Street businesses grow, the businesses along Highway 56 grow.”

The funds from Main Street Calico Rock and Main Street America are required to be used in the historic downtown district. For more information, go online to MainStreetCalicoRock.com, or call 870-916-2230.
