
Students at Mountain Home High School will get the chance to travel to Germany this summer, but before then, German students will get the opportunity to visit the Twin Lakes area.
This is the 26th trip for the German American Partnership Program (GAPP) with around 25 students each from Mountain Home and Germany participating. After first taking a trip to New York City, visiting students will travel to Little Rock before arriving in Mountain Home.
Mountain Home students will get their chance to spend time in Germany starting in the summer. Students will spend two weeks in Europe primarily in Regensburg.
Katie Dellenger, a Mountain Home junior who will be participating in the trip, says this will be her first time in Europe.

MHHS German teacher Chris Francis says the trip will encompass more of the continent as well, including visits to other parts of Germany, such as the capital Berlin, and other countries including Poland and the Czech Republic.

Each student from Mountain Home is matched with a German counterpart. Dellenger says she has been busy trying to get to know her partner.

To help make the exchange more affordable for students, several fundraisers are planned, including a dinner and auction on April 26 and a smash room event, where participants pay to enter a room and break various objects.
