Mississippi man arrested for 3-year-old theft at Mountain Home motel

A Mississippi man has been arrested for a theft that occurred at a Mountain Home motel three years ago. Twenty-six-year-old Carlos Lashun Myers of Hattiesburg is facing two felony and one misdemeanor charge in the case. He was arrested in Jackson County, Missouri, by Kansas City Police on charges of domestic assault and destruction of property on March 16. He was then extradited to Baxter County on his outstanding warrant.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, the incident happened March 10, 2022 at a motel where a large group of employees had been staying while they worked on a project in the area.

On that morning, Myers left his room, but returned to the front desk and told the clerk his room key wasn’t working. But he gave the clerk a different room number, not his.

Video footage shows Myers go into the victim’s room and leave with items hidden under a bed sheet. The victim told police the items missing were a new rifle and a laptop computer. The items were valued at $1,230.

Myers is facing felony charges of residential burglary and theft of property and a misdemeanor charge of theft of property. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center with bonds totaling $25,000.
