An Izard County man who previously pled guilty to felony charges has been arrested after a firearm was found in his vehicle. Thirty-year-old Justin Robert Farmer is facing a felony charge of possession of a firearm for the incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle at 1570 East Main in Melbourne on March 22. The vehicle’s license plate had been folded in on each side, making it unreadable.
During the stop, deputies stated they could smell marijuana and asked Farmer to exit the vehicle. While speaking with Farmer and asking for consent to search, deputies noted Farmer acting nervous. Farmer told deputies he was a felon and had a pistol in the glove box of the vehicle.
Farmer was arrested and booked into the Izard County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond. He is facing a felony count of possession of firearm. Farmer had previously pled guilty on April 14, 2014 for a felony charge of breaking or entering.
