
The Mountain Home High School baseball team suffered its first conference loss of the season on Monday. The Bombers went to Farmington and were doubled up by the Cardinals 8-4. Mountain Home falls to 9-3 on the season and 2-1 in the 5A-West.
Flippin came away with a conference victory in front of its home crowd. The Bobcats defeated Salem by a final of 10-4.
Yellville-Summit had a rough day on its home field. The Panthers ended up losing to Cave City 12-2.
Viola ended up with another home victory. The Longhorns topped Calico Rock 10-6.
Izard County went to Tuckerman and picked up the 12-8 win. Xander McCandlis was credited with the victory as he pitched five innings, struck out five batters and gave up six hits, three walks and four runs (three earned). Braxton McCandlis led the Cougar offense by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Cash Arnhart drove in two runs, including one on a solo home run over the center field fence, and Noah Mosley was 2-for-5 at the plate.
Dora had a tough road trip. The Falcons fell to Thayer 13-3.
Marshall ended up with a conference loss on its home turf. The Bobcats lost to Sloan-Hendrix 13-2.
Bergman suffered a 3A-2 defeat at home. The Panthers fell to Valley Springs 31-0.
Omaha was able to come out with a victory in a high-scoring game. The Eagles got past Deer 22-20.
Jasper came up a few runs short at home. The Pirates lost to Hector 17-12.
In softball, Norfork picked up a league win on the road. The Lady Panthers went to Lead Hill and came away with the 25-1 decision.
Flippin’s softball team did not fare as well as their baseball counterparts. The Lady Bobcats fell to Salem 15-2.
Yellville-Summit was able to hang on for a win at Yellville City Park. The Lady Panthers squeaked by Cave City 7-6.
A walkoff sacrifice fly resulted in Izard County getting edged out by Tuckerman 4-3 in eight innings. Megan McBride suffered the loss as she pitched 7 1/3 innings, recorded nine strikeouts and gave up 15 hits, two walks and three runs. Reese Johnson had two hits and an RBI for the Lady Cougars, Makensie Yancey added two hits, and Willow Warden and Quinn Johnson each drove in a run.
Mammoth Spring ended up with a home conference loss. The Lady Bears were shut out by Cedar Ridge 22-0.
Melbourne picked up a 3A-2 conference win on the road. The Lady Bearkatz blanked Mountain View 10-0.
