Due to the flooding, a curfew has been set in the city of Hardy. The curfew takes effect Saturday evening and will be from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night through Tuesday morning.
According to the announcement from Hardy Mayor Ethan Barnes, no person or persons shall congregate, operate any businesses or be upon the streets or other public ways, unless on official business for the city or state, in any area or areas designated by the mayor as curfew areas in the city during the time of any declared emergency. Barnes says the measure is necessary to ensure the safety of all residents and to facilitate the recovery efforts in the aftermath of the flooding.
Everyone in Hardy is being urged to adhere to the curfew guidelines and stay informed through official channels for updates. For emergencies, Hardy residents contact local law enforcement or emergency services at 870-994-2211 or 870-856-4811.
In addition, U.S. Highway 63B in downtown Hardy was closed due to flooding at last update. Motorists are being directed to use the U.S. Highway 63 bypass.
