Izard County Sheriff Charley Melton was attempting to rescue a pair of individuals trapped in a rural portion of the the county. According to the sheriff’s office, a spot in the road was washed out and hidden by water. The spot had washed most of the road out about 2 feet deep.
All county roads will have major damage like this for the coming days that can be hidden by the water.
Sheriff Melton was not injured.
