A longtime area sportswriter and the founder of the Arkansas Sports Media polls has died after a lengthy illness. Scott McDonald died Tuesday in Springdale at the age of 56.
McDonald worked for the Baxter Bulletin and Harrison Daily Times covering high school sports in north central Arkansas for many years. He also worked at newspapers in Batesville and Russellville.
McDonald was also the founder of the Arkansas Sports Media polls for high school football and basketball. The polls replaced the Associated Press polls in the state when the A.P. did away with their polls several years ago.
No funeral arrangements have been announced.
