The annual Missouri municipal election ended Tuesday night with a number of incumbents getting voted out of school boards throughout Ozark County.
The race for current Bakersfield R-IV School Board members Kyle Clayton and Darren Johnston came up short as Joseph Vaughan and Austin Lamb will replace them for three-year terms. Vaughan and Austin Lamb received 73 and 65 votes respectively, Johnston ended up with 62, Clayton had 54 votes, and Kevin Goodwin received 13. Stanton Cory Lamb will join the Bakersfield board for a one-year position as his 84 votes beat Andrea Russell’s 58. Stanton Cory Lamb will finish the remainder of Mike Scott’s term after he left the position vacant.
Dakota Nash was reelected to one of the three-year terms on the Gainesville R-V School Board, and Sally Hambelton will succeed Vice President Robby Walrath, who did not run for reelection. Nash secured 291 votes, Hambelton had 279, and Wes Uchtman ended up with 235. For the open one-year term, Jeffrey Lane beat out incumbent Heather Bushner and fellow challenger Nick Jones. Lane garnered 204 votes, Bushner finished with 171, and Jones secured 92.
One incumbent will remain on the Lutie R-VI School Board while another was voted out. Jennifer Garrison will have another three-year term and will be joined by Amanda VanDeWalle after each garnered 81 votes. Thomas Matthew Herd received 50 votes, and current board member Suzanne Meeks ended up fourth with 40.
Shelby Nold will stay on the Dora R-III School Board for another three years, but fellow incumbent Dylan Leroy came up short. Challenger Derik Collins will succeed Leroy after being the top vote-getter with 74 votes. Nold had 51, and Leroy secured 46.
Elsewhere, one incumbent and two newcomers were elected to the three open two-year terms on the Theodosia Village Board of Trustees, and another incumbent was voted out. Challenger Nancy Wilson finished with the most votes at 32, current board member Kimberly Homer was second with 20, and Brian E. Ross came away with 19 for the last spot. Wilson and Ross will succeed John Maglione, who lost with 17 votes, and Julie Rothenberg, who did not run for reelection.
In Howell County, Ron Grennan will become the newest member of the West Plains City Council. Grennan’s 226 votes beat out Jarryd Alsup’s 192 for the open four-year term. Grennan will succeed John Niesen, who did not run for reelection.
All election results are currently unofficial until certified.
