The Mountain Home High School Band has qualified for its second straight Super Sweepstakes Award following its performance in the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association Class 6A State Concert Contest. The Bomber Band received superior first-division ratings Tuesday at the competition in Jonesboro.

Mountain Home was the featured Class 6A honor band at this year’s event, preventing them from competing for rankings. The Bomber Band still ended up with the highest Class 6A score for the second consecutive year.

The band will present its final concert of the year next Sunday, April 27, at 2:30 pm at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. Selections will include highlights from the hit musical Wicked, Travelin’ Music featuring the Arkansas Traveler folk song, variations of Scarborough Fair and Havana Nights, the two additional honor band selections performed at state and the Stars and Stripes Forever March. The concert is free and open to the public.
