The deadline to need a Real ID to board domestic flights or enter a federal building in the United States is just two weeks away. Beginning May 7, anyone without a Real ID will not be able to do those things.

In Arkansas, the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) is ramping up to help residents who have not gotten their Real IDs to get them before the deadline. This Saturday, revenue offices in Little Rock, Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Texarkana and Monticello will be open to help those who have not yet obtained their Real ID.

DFA spokesman Scott Hardin says when you go to the revenue office to get your Real ID, the federal government requires you prove you are a legal U.S. citizen.

Another key document some residents will need is documentation showing a name change.

Again, those websites are ar.gov/realid and mydmv.arkansas.gov. In north central Arkansas, the revenue offices that accept appointments currently are Mountain Home, Marshall, Horseshoe Bend and Mammoth Spring. All offices in the state are expected to by the end of the year.

Hardin says once you have a Real ID, you can renew each time as you would normally would your regular driver’s license. You only have to provide the documentation when you first apply for the Real ID.

Here are the number of Real IDs issued in each county of north central Arkansas since Jan. 1 of 2024:

Baxter – 7,211
Boone – 4,458
Fulton – 1,022
Izard – 1,406
Marion – 1,846
Newton – 680
Searcy – 765
Stone – 1,270
