A Hall of Fame coach is coming out of retirement to take over the Dora girls’ high school basketball program. Scott Womack, who spent 33-years as the head coach of the West Plains High School girls’ team before retiring at the end of the 2024 school year, was hired this week by the Dora School Board to replace Cole Garnette.

Womack led the Lady Zizzers to the Class 4 state championship in 1998 and the Class 5 title in 2022. West Plains also finished second in 2021 and third in 2023. He has an overall record of 636 wins and 287 losses.

Womack was elected to the Missouri Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019, was named the National High School Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2015, an all-state coach three times, an all-district coach eight times and an all-conference coach 12 times.

He takes over a Lady Falcons team that went 11-14 this past season.
