LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind is pleased to announce that it will hold two summer camps in June for blind or low vision and deaf or hard of hearing students. The camps are free, and students from around the state are encouraged to attend. Daily meals and on-campus accommodations will be provided.

The first camp will be held from June 16-20 for students who are entering grades 1-6 this fall. The second camp, which will be held June 23-27, is designated for grade 7 through age 16 for blind or low vision students and grade 7 through age 15 for deaf or hard of hearing students.

“Our summer camps are popular every summer, as they provide enrichment activities and additional supports for students to gain hands-on learning experiences, especially during the summer months when school is not in session,” Nicole Walsh, the school superintendent, said. “We invite students from across the state to participate in our camps this summer – free of charge – and to use this opportunity to network with other students, visit the campus, and learn more about the great services our school provides to families around the state.”

Attendees will engage in activities such as field trips, cooking and music classes, and other life learning classes that are centered around the Expanded Core Curriculum. The curriculum focuses on helping students learn the skills they need to live independent, fulfilling lives.
