Monday through Friday a fleet of three small white trucks departs the Van Matre Senior Activity and Wellness Center on Spring Street at midday en route to 150 homes across the county. Inside the rear compartments of the hot shot trucks are meals being delivered to homebound seniors in Baxter County. Behind the wheel are drivers delivering more than just a hot meal five days a week with two frozen dinners for the weekend, according to the center’s former director Kimberly Taffar.
