Former Lady Bomber basketball player being inducted into the Hall of Honor



On Saturday, the Mountain Home High School Athletic Hall of Honor will induct five new members including Jean Protiva-Sixbey. Protiva-Sixbey was a standout basketball player for the Lady Bombers, lettering all four years of her high school career before her graduation in 1951.Former Mountain Home girl’s coach and Athletic Director Janet Wood says in her research of the history of girl’s basketball in Mountain Home, everyone who was around during the late 40’s and early 50’s say Protiva-Sixbey was the best player of the era.

Protiva-Sixbey, who was valedictorian of her graduating class in 1951, says playing basketball was a way of life her her and her family.

Her senior year was the first year of what was the new gym at the then high school, the school that now houses Pinkston Middle School.

She lives in Little Rock now and she says she is very excited to be inducted in the Hall of Honor.

The Athletic Hall of Honor begins at noon with a social hour followed by the meal and program at 1:00.
