Runoff election to decide Republican nomination for Arkansas Senate District 16

A runoff election will be held in March to decide the Republican winner for the Arkansas State Senate District 16 seat. None of the three candidates received over 50 percent of the vote, and as a result, Breanne Davis and Robert “Bob” Bailey will square off again March 13th.

Davis led the vote count with 43.4 percent, Bailey was second with 41.4 percent. Luke Heffley ended up in third place with 15.2 percent of the vote total.

The winner of the March 13th runoff election will face Democratic candidate Teresa Nichole Gallegos in the May 22nd special election. District 16 covers Newton County and part of Boone, Carroll, Pope and Van Buren counties.

The Senate vacancy was created with the death of Senator Greg Standridge of Russellville in November.
