Thursday conference tournament results

High school conference tournaments continued for several area schools Thursday night.

A-t the 1A-2 North tournament at Calico Rock, the top seeded boy’s team advanced as Izard County ran past Hillcrest 76-39. The Cougars took control early, building a 41-18 halftime lead.
Justus Cooper led the way with 23 points and 14 rebounds and Caleb Faulkner added 17 points.
The Izard County boys move in the championship game with a 31-2 record.
In the other boy’s game, Calico Rock got past Mammoth Spring 70-60 in overtime. Sagen Godwin paced the Bears with 29 points while Daniel Mayfield chipped in 16. The Bears fall to 18-15 on the season. The Pirates are now 18-13.
In girl’s action, top seeded Norfork rolled past Viola 54-25. The Lady Panthers are 36-1 on the season.
In the other girl’s game, Mammoth Spring defeated Calico Rock 56-54. Brianna Hocum had a big game with 31 points for the Lady Bears who improve to 27-8 on the season. The Lady Pirates are 15-19.

The 2A-2 Tournemant continued at East Poinsett County High School. The Cotter girls were edged out by Marmaduke 56-52. The Lady Warriors are 18-15.
The Salem girls were upended by Sloan-Hendrix 51-50. The Lady Greyhounds fall to 20-6.

The 3A-1 East District played its semifinals at Valley Springs.
In boy’s action, Valley Springs topped Yellville-Summit 48-34. The Tigers improve to 26-7 while the Panthers fall to 18-10.
Clinton won the other boy’s game over Marshall.
In girl’s action, Melbourne edged Valley Springs 50-48 in overtime. The Lady Bearkatz are now 24-4 while the Lady Tigers fall to 22-11.
The other girl’s contest had Mountain View defeating Bergman 68-46. The Lady Yellowjackets improve to 23-2 while the Lady Panthers fall to 22-13.

In regular season action, the Dora boys won a match up of state ranked teams. Dora is ranked number eight in class 1 and won at number 7 Walnut Grove 83-74. The Falcons improve to 20-5.

The Gainesville girls were 54-44 winners over Conway to improve to 13-7.
