An entrepreneur of a local pizza retailer will soon be seen on national television advertisements. Brant Barnes, an owner and operator of Papa John’s Pizza in Mountain Home, is part of a national campaign named “Voices of Papa John’s” introducing a diverse group of individuals with different positions in the company around the world.
Papa John’s founder John Schnatter stepped down as the company’s chief executive officer at the beginning of the year, following his criticisms of National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell’s handling of national anthem protests conducted by some of the league’s players. He resigned as chairman of the board nearly six months later, after it was revealed he used a racial slur during a sensitivity training phone call. Barnes says since then, the company’s focus is to take its promotions in a different direction, and they’ve turned to local franchisees for assistance.
Listen:
It was nearly 13 years ago when Barnes, who is a Mountain Home native, became the co-owner of his first Papa John’s location in Southaven, Mississippi.
Listen:
Barnes says Papa John’s is looking to put a spotlight on the company’s local franchisees and employees instead of one national face, and the Mountain Home location’s manager may also be seen in the campaign.
Listen:
Barnes says he expects the advertisements he’s featured in to be seen nationally starting this weekend.
